Then I sometimes find myself clicking around the dictionary website (I use this one) looking up other random words, checking out the Word of the Day, playing games (Word Dynamo is my jam) and often forgetting the word I originally looked up... or the person I was chatting with, the email I was drafting or paper due later that day.
Such was the case with the word persnickety. I double checked and sure enough, the word would fit right where I needed, but enjoyed saying the word and thought such a fun word should have an exciting meaning. Unfortunately that isn't how language works and I decided I needed a new and less fun word to complete my sentence.
Which set me off exploring.
Along the way, I stumbled upon one of my favorite words to describe myself - capricious. Which seemed quite fitting, given my current situation (prone to sudden, unpredictable change). Along the sidebar I noticed a word I recognized but didn't remember the definition - captious (apt to notice and make much of trivial faults or defects; faultfinding; difficult to please.) Surprisingly the word seemed to fit the hole in my sentence persnickety previously occupied.
Annnnd I had come full circle, remembering why I had looked up the word in the first place.
Does all this work make me persnickety? Or just ADD?
